Jen joined Sandersons as a negotiator in our Canterbury office in 2007. After gaining valuable experience within the sales team she was promoted to the Property Management department based in Maidstone in 2009. She headed up the team that managed the Canterbury portfolio and the Corporate Landlord team before moving back to Canterbury as the Assistant Lettings Manager. Jen is now Lettings Manager for our Canterbury branch. Jen has also studied for and gained the NFOPP level 3 award in Residential Lettings and Property Management.
Jen is currently on Maternity leave and working one day a week until she returns in January 2020 - we look forward to welcoming her back to the team :-)
What do you like most about Sandersons’ approach?
I love that Sandersons offers a very personable service which can be adjusted depending on individual clients needs. This has enabled me on a personal level to build strong working relationships over the years
I grew up in the Canterbury area and I currently live with my partner in Chartham which is close to family and friends so I get to enjoy spending quality time with them. I am a keen traveller and have been lucky enough to explore some beautiful countries with my latest adventures including Bali, Hong Kong, South Africa and parts of South East Asia.
I enjoy being active and attend pilates, bootcamp and bodypump classes and I am trying to learn to snowboard.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To be more confident in myself and to trust my instincts.
Lorraine has overseen the client accounting for Sandersons landlord clients since joining the team in 2009. She is extremely knowledgable with a wealth of experience in Lettings and managing our landlord accounts. Why are Sandersons different? I like that Sandersons like to get to know their customers and offer a competent, friendly and knowledgeable service.
I have lived in Sittingbourne all of my life. I have three grown up children and two adorable grandchildren. I’m passionate about spending time and days out with all of the family and taking long costal walks with my partner Simon. I enjoy horse riding and Pilates and also like to join my friends and family at a local pub to enjoy the bands. I actively follow The Duellers, a 9-piece Jamaican Rhythm and Blues band. What advice would you give your younger self? Everything happens for a reason; without mistakes and failure you would never learn. Be grateful and surround yourself with positive, happy people. Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.
Robin joined Sandersons iConn in January 2018 as a lettings negotiator. He has excellent IT and administrative experience so we are really happy to have this level of skill in the team to continue to ensure we deliver a consistently exceptional service to our customers. He worked as a network engineer in London working to put the WiFi networks on trains (virgin trains out of Euston/Heathrow express) for a company called Nomad Digital Ltd. Just before joining Sandersons iConn, he spent 2 years in retail at Homebase/Currys working at the front end as well as in the warehouse.
Robin is also in the process of completing a distance learning engineering qualification in HNC General Engineering.
What do you like most about Sandersons’ iConn approach?
The supportive and friendly office atmosphere makes it easy to focus on providing the best customer experience I can.
Apart from a brief move to London, I have lived in Canterbury my whole life. Two years ago I started training Kickboxing at a local club and this year I started competing in local competitions which has been a painful but enjoyable experience.
Last year I completed the PARAS'10 and COMMANDO charity runs which help raise funds for their respective regiments and I also completed a charity log run for Who Dares Cares.
I recently learnt to ski and intend to spend as much time in the mountains as I can in the near future!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
It's better to fail at something then never try at all
Paula started working for Sandersons in April 2021 as one of our Inventory Clerks, carrying out inventories at the beginning of new lets, as well as completing checkouts when tenants move out of the properties.
The job of the clerk is to also carry out midterm visits to ensure that tenants are getting the best from their property and at the same time checking on the condition of the property for the Landlord. Sandersons are proud to have Paula on board and love her attitude to the job in hand and the attention to detail that she brings.
Previous to this Paula was a nursery school manager giving over 20 years of experience to early years so coming to Sandersons was a big change for her, but one that she embraced with her passion and flair.
Why are Sandersons different?
I feel that Sandersons are different because it cares about the needs of people and puts families first ensuring that they get the property that is right for them.
I live in Tenterden with my partner, three of our four children and our Tibetan Terrier Annie. We love to get away as much as possible and always have a trip or two planned.
When I am not working I am usually found out on a run, training for my next marathon !
Lettie first joined Sandersons in 2007 as a junior lettings negotiator and was a member of the Canterbury team for six years. She left the company in May 2013 to gain more experience and work in the sales industry for three years. She feels this helped her develop a greater knowledge and confidence in both lettings and sales. We are delighted that Lettie re-joined the Canterbury team in 2016 as a negotiator and brought her experience with her. Lettie is now re-visiting her passion for art and creativity and has joined our Development Team to working on marketing as a photographer.
What do you like most about Sandersons' approach?
Having experienced the work ethic and culture in other Estate Agencies I can confidently say that Sandersons approach to all aspects of lettings and sales is different as they genuinely care about the customer and the experience that they receive at every stage of the process.
I live in Faversham and have worked in Canterbury for the last twelve years. I live with my long term partner who I met at secondary school. After 16 years together we have just tied the knot and had the most beautiful wedding in Skiathos. I enjoy exercise and cooking and have recently taken up photography which has revived the creative side of my personality. I took GCSE and A level art and this has reminded me of the passion I have for all things creative. I also enjoy holidays in hot sunny climates and hope to travel more in the future as I still have much of the world to see.
What advice would you give your younger self?
If I could give my younger self some advice it would be to have a bit more belief in myself and not to worry so much about the little things.
Steph started with Sandersons in December 2022 after she previously worked for a company that specialised in student lettings. Steph has got stuck straight in with learning about the professional market and appears to be enjoying it! We're pleased that she is currently studying for her property mark exam to further her knowledge in the industry.
We know that she was extremely nervous about starting with a new company after 8 years in her previous role, however she has settled into the team fabulously and we feel proud to have her in our family.
Why are Sandersons different?
The aim is to change the perception of estate agents and I love the direction that Sandersons are taking with this notion.
I live in Herne bay with my friends and family close by. I love being by the sea as there is always something going on in the summer months. I enjoy traveling inside and outside of the UK whether it be weekends away or longer trips abroad.
I am lucky enough to have been able to work and travel to some amazing parts of the world including, India, Southeast Asia and Australia. This was something I had always dreamt of doing until I finally made the jump in my late 20's.
I'm now concentrating on the more grown-up aspects of my life and renovating my first home, which was something else I had always been keen on since a young age.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Listen to your parents, they know more than you realised.
Nancy joined the Canterbury Lettings team in 2014 as a lettings negotiator starting her career in the industry. Over the years she has developed her experience and gained the NFOPP level 3 award in Residential Lettings and Property Management. Nancy is extremely organised and knowledgeable on the Lettings process and is ideally positioned to provide support throughout the progression of a new let. We understand that the management of a tenancy at the start is critical for ensuring legal documentation is completed in full and support is provided with an ongoing long term relationship in mind.
What do you like most about Sandersons’ approach?
Having worked for corporate companies previously I appreciate Sandersons laid back but fair approach.
Michelle has worked as an Accounts / Office Administrator within the Lettings Industry for 12 years and joined Iconn a year ago to oversee both the client and management accounts as well as the general day to day running of the office. iConn merged with Sandersons in March 2018 so we are really excited to have someone with Michelle's experience and attention to detail as part of the team.
What do you like about Sandersons Approach?
I like the Sandersons / Iconn approach as together we are a team that works hard, plays hard but continuously strives to the best we can be, providing a first class service to all our clients, with a smile!
I moved from London to Herne Bay 12 years ago and currently live on a farm with my Partner and youngest Son. I have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. I love family time! Get togethers with my children and grandchildren, eating, drinking, laughing and generally talking rubbish. At the weekends I like to go for walks along the beach or to the woods with my Partner and 2 dogs, Mollie the Pomski and Daisy the Terrier. I enjoy holidays abroad. Anywhere hot! My ideal holiday consists of lying in the sun being waited on, simple, but loving life!
What advice would you give your younger self?
Always be true to yourself.
Donna started her working life in a coffee shop working her way through her management NVQ’s ending up managing a shop in Tenterden.
She then worked with Children working her way up to managing a nursery after doing her Childcare and management degree. Whist she found this job very rewarding, once she had her son, she decided she wanted to do something different and was interested in property.
Sandersons were thrilled to welcome Donna into the family as a Property Manager. For Donna, it was the best decision she felt that she made as her work/life balance is the best it’s ever been. Plus she has her own identity back and is not just ‘mummy’
Why are Sandersons different?
Sandersons is a safe space, you feel welcomed from every angle, and you have the support you need at the end of the phone or in the office - it’s a second family. Its professional and approachable way of dealing with landlords and tenants makes it unique, and I am proud to be part of Sandersons.
I live in Sutton Valence with my partner Russell and our four-year-old son Arthur. We are busy building our forever home, putting on an extension and changing our garden. I love to spend time with my family and friends, entertaining so I can’t wait for it all to be finished.
When im not working I like to go for walks at the beach or in the woods, often with a pit stop at a local pub! I love having some me time, chilling at the local coffee shop or having my hair done when I get five minutes peace!
Oli's career started in retail, where he took on a management role at the age of 19. He then began working as a personal tax specialist for a large local company, before a brief stint as a sales executive for an IT recycling company. Most recently, he spent three years working as an estate agent, becoming a property consultant and valuer before making the move to Sandersons.
Why are Sandersons different?
Since joining Sandersons it has become apparent that they are different because the working atmosphere is very much people driven, meaning everyone has the comfort and flexibility to fully express themselves and perform at their very best.
In my spare time I am an avid motorsport fan, and always keen to get on a go kart track when the opportunity arises. I’m also a history geek and love visiting castles, museums, or anything else that smells a bit old and musty. Football also plays a big role in my life, with Manchester United regularly causing me heartbreak and/or heartburn; but it’s normally too embarrassing a subject to bring up in public.
What advice would you give your younger self?
There isn’t much advice I would give my younger self, I’ve had a lot of different experiences in my career and I feel that both the positive and negative parts have helped me learn and develop as a person and an employee. As a result, I wouldn’t necessarily want to warn my younger self against anything and alter that. However, I wouldn’t mind warning myself not to get too invested in Manchester United, and save all the heartbreak.
Kay joined Sandersons in early 2014 as a sales and lettings administrator, having been in the industry for 9 years. Whilst she had undertaken various roles within a corporate setting, from negotiator to valuer, the rapid and successful expansion of sales within the Canterbury branch created a need for a dedicated sales progressor. After returning from maternity leave in 2018, because of her methodical and organised approach, Kay joined our lettings team to assist with processing new lets and renewals for both professional and student tenancies.
Why are Sandersons different? Having spent a great deal of time working for a national estate agency, I have found Sandersons to be a breath of fresh air. Management encourages ideas to be put forward to help improve the business from a customer’s viewpoint, and we really do try to be different in our approach. A key factor of this is, not tying in any of our vendors to a fixed term agency agreement and letting our hard work and results do the talking - something that is missing from the corporate sector where clients can be treated as cash cows.
I live in Faversham with my young family having spent most of my childhood growing up on the North Kent Downs. When I do get some 'spare time' you’ll find me out in the garden growing veggies or on my mountain bike exploring trails both locally and further afield. I am known as a bit of a foodie – I like nothing more than trying out new recipes to go in my outdoor wood fired oven for family and friends.
What would I tell my younger self? Don't sweat the small stuff!
Laura started working for Sandersons in the summer of 2014. She has a huge amount of experience and has now progressed to Senior Negotiator in the Maidstone Branch. Laura has a wealth of knowledge and particularly excels in Lettings. Laura will conduct viewings, find suitable tenants, liaise with Landlords about their requirements, prepare property details for marketing and negotiate the terms of the let.
Laura returned from maternity leave in Spring 2024 after her third baby to keep the twins company, huge congratulations Laura. We are delighted to have Laura's extensive lettings experience within our Property Management team.
What is Sandersons difference?
Sandersons concentrate on the finer details which provides consistency and accuracy, particularly when producing property details.
I live local to Maidstone and have worked in the area since leaving school. When I'm not working I spend my time in the countryside with my 2 dogs (pictured) and my partner Charlie. Recent holiday include city breaks to Budapest, Krakow, Marrakech and Amsterdam and more relaxed ventures to Mauritius and Cape Verde. Socially I enjoy live music, especially in the summer months when I like to attend as many music festivals as possible!
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don't ever dye your hair black (it takes years to correct!) and trust your gut instinct more, it's not often wrong!
Julie joined Sandersons as a lettings negotiator in our Maidstone office in 2009 after a background working in media sales. She gained valuable experience within the lettings team, then joined the sales team and progressed into the role of valuations manager for both lettings and sales. She has gained a wealth of knowledge since joining in 2009 and built some incredibly strong working relationships with our clients. Julie is absolutely thriving in her current role as Lettings Manager for our Maidstone office. What do you like about Sandersons' approach? We don't have problems, we have solutions!
Outside of work I love to spend time with my family and my two grand dogs -Frank and Ernie (our two little Dachshund). I also like to go skiing and dancing when possible. My husband comes from Maidstone and we have lived in the area for around 34 years so my knowledge of the area is pretty good! What advice would you give your younger self? Don't judge a book by its cover
Chris joined the property management team in 2024 with a background in managing short term holiday rentals and property maintenance. He brings a wealth of property knowledge and a charisma to the team. Chris was travelling in Asia with his partner before joining the team and rented his own property wile oversees. This experience as both a landlord and historically a tenant gives him a sound understanding of what constitues good customer service, professionalism and advice.
